Violators can be fined upto 500
Wearing of mask has been made compulsory in South Kashmir’s Shopian district to minimize the chances of further spread of Covid-19 cases and violators can be fined with Rs 500.
An order issued by District Magistrate Shopian Sachin Kumar Vaishyal reads that whereas, usage of Masks has been strongly advised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOl and the same has heen reiterated in various SOPs issued by the Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department J&K in view of recent spike in Covid-19 positive cases.
Whereas, it has become imperative to ensure 100 % usage of masks inthe District to minimize the chances of further spread of Covid-19 cases, now therefore, by the virtue of powers vested under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, it is hereby ordered that all Executive Magistrates, BDOs, District/Sectoral officers are hereby directed to ensure the usage of masks in their respective jurisdictions and in case of any person found without wearing mask at public places, a fine of Rs.500 be imposed to violators and the same shall be credited in the official account No.SBG-49 of Chairman, District Red Cross Society, Shopian under proper receipt. Further all District/ Sectoral Officers shall ensure usage of masks in the offices working under their control, it further adds.
Moreover, the statements of imposition of fine and its deposition in the above mentioned account be submitted on weekly basis and the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Shopian, Additional District Magistrate and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Zainapora shall personally monitor the exercise within their jurisdiction through field inspection on the routine basis, it further adds.
