Three injured as India, Pakistan trade fire along LoC in Poonch

Two girls and a youth were injured after the armies of India and Pakistan shelled each other’s positions and civilian areas in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Reports said two girls, identified as Shabina Akhtar, daughter of Mumtaz Ahmad and Tasveer Begum, daughter of Abdul Rasheed, were injured in cross-LoC firing in Chapprian village in Saujiyan area of the district.

The injured youth was identified as Muhammad Isaq son of Noor Muhammad

The injured were shifted to district hospital Poonch for treatment.

Earlier, an army official said that Pakistan army initiated “unprovoked” ceasefire violation along the LoC in Saujiyan sector at 8:30 am.

He said the Indian army was retaliating to the firing which was going on at the time of filing of this report.
