Most parts of South kashmir have been witnessing frequent and long erratic power cuts since heavy snowfall last week.
People from different areas of South kashmir said the restoration process of the PDD was very quick after snowfall, however, long and frequent power cuts have made our hell amid the bone chilling cold.

They said that frequent and long power cuts are prevalent in both metered and non-metered areas and we have hardly receiving a supply of two to three hours in 24 hours.

We are supposed to get a power supply of 6 hours followed by 6 hour black out but in our 6 hour schedule, after every 5 minutes there is blackout of hours, Said Salman Ahmad a resident of Bijbehara.

Amid bone chilling cold, we have to wash and clean with cold winter as the supply isnt even enough to make the water lukewarm, said Gowhar Ahmad from Awantipora.
Locals said that department must take of the issue seriously so that public won’t suffer any more.

Executive Engineer PDD Division Awantipora Er Altaf Said that 220 kV Kishenpur-Mirbazar is under fault from last few days and a a tower has got also got damaged in Ramban area.

He said that Mirbazar is drawing 280 MW from Wagoora via Pampore, thus overloading the 220kV Pampore-Wagoora transmission line, due to which we are getting 30% Lesser allotment and thus additional forced cuts have resulted from all grids.
He said that within few days issue will be sorted out and people will get scheduled power supply.
