Pakistan’s military said that they successfully test-fired an enhanced version of their Babur cruise missile on Saturday. Babur Weapon System-1 (B) is a “low-flying, terrain-hugging missile” that has a range of 700 km. The missile also has “certain stealth features” and can hit targets on both land and sea, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations said.
The first Babur missile was launched in 2005, Dawnreported. According to the report, though the missile lacked GPS, it could hit targets accurately. It can also fire both nuclear and conventional warheads.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and President Mamnoon Hussain were among those who congratulated the scientists and engineers on the missile test. ( PTI )
