NSC to develop Post-Entry Quarantine facility at Shopian : Director Horticulture

The Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat who is also Mission Director, MIDH-J&K today attended a meeting at National Seeds Corporation (NSC) New Delhi regarding Creation/development of Post-Entry Quarantine facility at Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development Zainapora Shopian.

The facility of Post-Entry Quarantine shall be developed by National Seeds Corporation over an area of 22 hectare at Shopian with funds from National Horticulture Board, Government of India.

The NSC has been entrusted with import of Walnut and Apple planting material from developed Countries for distribution in Union Territory of J&K.

Since, J&K is in urgent need of planting material for establishment of High Density Orchards in UT. This endeavour shall go a long way in the upliftment of economic status of farmers of J&K.

Mission Director MIDH, J&K persuaded the authorities to immediately finalise modalities and preparation of DPR of the proposed facility and in this regard a five member team is scheduled to visit the Union Territory in the last week of January this year.
