Muzaffer Beigh may be made patron of PC, Safeena to get party ticket for assembly polls
As the blame game over dissolution of State Assembly by Governor Satya Pal Malik continues to make headlines, the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP is heading for a major split with many top leaders including nearly a dozen former legislators looking for alternate options.
Highly reliable sources said that Sajad Lone’s peoples conference stands as the major beneficiary of the split as majority of the breakaway group may go to its ( PCs) camp. If sources are to believed one of the founder members of PDP and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Hussain Beigh would be the first to severe ties with PDP and join People’s Conference as patron. His Spouse Safeena Beigh, Nephew and former MLA from Baramulla constituency Javid Hassan Beigh are also likely to join Lone’s People’s Conference.
Muzafer Beigh would be according to Sources made Patron of PC whereas his spouse Safeena may be fielded in the assembly polls by PC in North Kashmir preferably in Uri.
Senior PDP leader and former Minister Imran Raza Ansari has already joined Peoples Conference whereas his uncle and former MLA Zadibal Abid Hussain Ansari would be joining the camp in a couple of days.
Apart from Beighs’ and Ansaris’ , some other senior leaders of PDP are weighing their options and may join either People’s conference or National Conference. Sources told that many of these leaders have entered into secrete negotiations with both the parties and may announce their formal decision this week itself.
According to sources, a PDP former Minster from Kupwara and a former MLA from Ponch , Ex- MLA from a Srinagar Constituency , a senior leader from Bandipora , Muhamamd Abas ( ex-MLA Tangmarg) , former MLC Mohammad Yasir Reshi are also likely to join People’s Conference.
Whereas most of the leaders from South are unlikely to desert Mehbooba Mufti, there is every likely hood that a leader who was Minster in the then 2002 Mufti Govt may join People’s Conference and his close relative and once known as the close confidant of Mehbooba Mufti may be looking for a place in National Conference. However, the sources said that the duo was engaged in a family feud over the decision which may hamper their chances of an immediate divorce with PDP.
Sources also told that a former MLA Rajouri was also in touch with NC.
