The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President today met various agitating deputations from village,Khaterchek, Wangund, Manzmou , Dongwari and Bakerwal Chek at Khanabal Anantnag and assured them that their genuine demands will be taken up at appropriate forum for their resolution.
The deputations apprised JKPCC President G.A. Mir about their concerns and hardships confronting them due to the closure of Ujroo post at National Highway close to Qazigund Banihal Tunnel construction site and sought their immediate resolution.
The deputations also apprised G.A Mir that it was very difficult for them to reach their destinations due to the closure of Ujroo post, which was the main source of connection between Tehsil HQ Door und NH due to the ongoing construction of Qazigund Banihal Tunnel and demanded appropriate crossing at NH to make their movement hassle free, enabling them to reach their destinations without covering a long distance.
They also raised the issue of patients and old aged persons, who were not able to undertake a long journey to reach hospitals or back to their respective residences.
The supply of water has also got badly affected and demanded drinking water supply to people, on priority basis, also demanded construction of culvert near village Wangund, deputations told G.A. Mir.
JKPCC President expressed serious concern over the different issues raised by the deputations on account of crossing at NH, water supply and other local issues confronting inhabitants of these villages, but at the sametime, he said Qazigund Banihal tunnel was undoubtedly most significant, benefitting people of J&K, but it has affected a few villages connecting with Tehsil HQ Dooru through Ujroo Post at National Highway.
I have taken up the matter with the authorities, G.A. Mir added and assured that their ( people’s) grievances will be taken up at appropriate forum for their resolution, ensuring that these were resolved, laying emphasis over the sorting out the matter, on priority basis, on the part of authorities dealing with construction of the Tunnel.
JKPCC President said besides construction of Qazigund Banihal tunnel, there was urgent need to address other concerns of inhabitants living in adjacent villages of the Tunnel.
JKPCC President also sought construction of culvert near Wangund village and water supply to these villages, reiterating that the concerned authorities must resolve the issue raised by the agitating inhabitants..
