On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, State Office, Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Jammu, as a part of its commitment to provide sustainable employment opportunities at the doorsteps of rural artisans and propagating Gandhian Values, distributed 100 Electric Potter’s Wheel to potters at Palhalan, Baramulla (J&K) under Kumbhar Sashaktikaran Yojana. The said potters have been provided training by Production Cum Training Centre (PMTC), KVIC, Pampore. Furthermore training has been stared for 50 potters.
The Electric Potters Wheels were distributed to the Potters by Hon’ble Chairman KVIC Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena. He joined the distribution ceremony through video conferencing. While distributing Electric Potter Wheels he lauded the self employment scheme of KVIC and urged to avail the benefits of these schemes.
He further stated that Electric Potter’s Wheel will provide them sustainable livelihood and will increase their socio-economic conditions. These potters thank the Hon’ble Chairman, KVIC saying that this will enable them to earn better livelihood and become ‘Aatm Nirbhar’.
Shri Anil Sharma, Principal/Asst. Director, PMTC, Pampore stated that the artisans were provided training by PMTC, Pampore in improved techniques such as mixing of Raw Material, Firing of semi-finished products etc.Shri S.P. Khandelwal, Director, KVIC, Jammu informed that the artisans have been provided with pug mill, blunger and kiln, which in turn will enhance the quality of their products.
Shri Khandelwal also stated that KVIC is committed to provide employment opportunity to the artisans by enhancing their traditional skills craft like sozri embroidery, tilla embroidery, paper machie etc and production of marketable products. Sh. Khandelwal also informed that various design interventions, will add value to their products, thereby ensuring a good source of income generation.
