We are living in the age of information explosion and with the advent of science and technology the world has been revolutionized in every aspect. It offers many benefits to the mankind and has made life more comfortable and easier besides giving access to a large number of opportunities. Complexities in human life have been come down due to novel technological innovations across the globe as everything seems so simple and easy for us to do. In past times, human activities were not so fast and effective which took plenty of time to get finished off a single work but now the same work is being done in two or three minutes only. In this way the technology has made it possible to get things done and provide services to people in lesser time as a result everyone wants to run steadily rather than to keep dull and inactive. The technological revolution in different forms has fascinated humans towards the information world in such a way that they can hardly breathe and sleep without using it for the current updates. In fact, these manifold changes occurred in the world we live in has enlightened human civilizations towards the modern age and has influenced humans by bringing up mental ability, cognitive development and capable of using technology gadgets. In fact these changes have led humans on the next stage of development. Evidently, the digitalized system has entirely exceeded the human capabilities with such a force to face challenges for achieving succes in different fields. With this, humans are getting inclined too much to know what is happening all over the world whether in terms of politics, international relations, social issues and world economic growth. None among us want to ignore such necessary current affairs. These are glaring key aspects in one’s life which he needs not to ignore but accept them with open and free mind. We are the part of system and everyone has a right to acknowledge the system by keenly observing it from different lenses.
It is the technological changes and inclination of humans towards the digital information for getting information. Only one relaible source which can frequently inform us with new updates i.e “Journalism”.It is gaining ground as well as popularity. The popularity and importance of journalism can be very well understood form the fact that Mass Communication has already been introduced as a subject at postgraduate level in many universities and we witness huge rush of able and talented students seeking admission in different courses of Journalism. Like any other profession the profession of journalism is a special body of knowledge, which can be imparted through formal education and training. It must have restricted entry so that every Tom, Dick and Harry cannot enter this challenging profession as journalism requires a special bent of mind. It is governed by a code of Conduct that has to be followed by every person who is in this profession. The work of journalist should be effective and unbiased and it should not have any type of infidelity that could be proved harmful for the society. Incidents and crimes happen across the globe in different ways. We come to know about these incidents or crimes either from the print media or electronic media. These two platforms serve us with new updates in the form of newspapers, Magazines and on Tv channels as well. One could get assured when he receives authentic information from reliable sources. The profession of Journalism demands some special requirements from the person who enter this field. The first requirement is that journalist must have keen interest in current events or day to day happenings. He must have ample understanding of political, Social, religious, and economic movements going on in a country or abroad. Simply journalist must be well read and a learned man because his role merely is not to disseminate information but to awake, alert and activate public.Secondly Journalists must have analytical mind so that he can interpret, explain and comment on happenings going on around him and can build and form public opinion. Last but not the least he must have courage to report every kind of issue without any fear and bias.
Journalism is respected professionalism field: – As a profession journalism is challenging as well as respectful, Should not we respect this professional field? Yes this too is a part of society and we all have a good respect for this field. It has its own way of doing work just as broadcasting, reporting, presenting news and bringing information to us for of all such incidents which occur in the society. This professional field is really respectable in the challenging circumstances. We see different types of social crimes and evils in our society from time to time. Such crimes when traced out are being highlighted on social media for making the public aware of them. Indeed our journalists are doing a wonderful job in exposing the social crimes. The anti-social elements are growing at an alarming rate which has brought down the dignity of our society. In these situations the responsibility of the quality journalism has increased manifold. But the hundred million dollar worth question arises that who can preserve and protect this professional field? We firmly believe those who have academically obtained degrees in Mass Communication through universities and are well trained are obviously considered real and well versed journalists as they might be able to present reports, disseminating reliable information reasonably through different media sources to the audience. Doing best in any field should have ethics that embellishes it more. Those who can abide by norms and laws during the work could preserve the values but not to disgrace it. Such journalists possess values and ethics in doing journalism par excellence in respect to those who are not doing in that part which can down its name. Academically journalists know the overall responsibilities and the areas of work which shows its high respect and dignity. They would be ethically sound and disciplined on every occasion. Whenever they have to present anything through various outlets, indeed they will be presenting it in a much decent way rather than to go for unethical ways. Reporting, presenting news should be streamlined for the perfect utility. This field is being respected in our democratic system provided that it should be performed in that way which maintains its credibility and recognition. Journalism is a respected and recognized professional field. It should be highly respected in a state when we have disciplined journalists who are well- known to this field having the subjective knowledge. Those who are academically passed out in this filed from universities having both subjective and objective part can explicitly do justice with it.
Journalism is an act of gathering and presenting news to the public of ongoing happenings and the journalists are those who present them in different ways, including articles, reports, and broadcasts. It is a field like that which is based on presenting reports, news of ongoing happenings and incidents either in printed form or through different media outlets. Besides, this subject has also a good part of ethics for reporting, presenting the information on factual grounds. Ethics is must in every part of professionalism field and should not to degrade it. Should not we abide by the rules and norms which are the fundamental principles so that people do not shame me and my profession? Every professional field has defined boundaries of work but makes it unworthy and shameful while crossing them.
Law and Journalism :- As we have discussed above the journalism in detail but everything succumbs to law as law is the supreme of all. No one can go against the law as law has such powers which deals with every kind of offence. A person who has been found guilty can be punished under the law Similarly, as the prime motive of journalism is to serve society but with in the ambit of prescribed code of conduct. .A common person or a professional in any of the field can’t take law in his own hands. His only work is that he can file a case in the police station against that person or he can bring the case into the notice of the law enforcing agencies for taking an action against a person who was found guilty. Journalism has its own domain and defined boundaries of work which must not be surpassed come what May and journalists in no way are allowed to take law in their own hands. Law enforcing bodies should not leave criminals unpunished if found convicted in any social crime. Law is for all and everyone should respect the laws which are constitutionally enacted for governing the state for giving justices and dealing with with the offences, crimes, murders etc. There is a demarcation line between journalism and Punishing the criminal under law. These two must not get intermingled, that is the role of journalism is to unearth the crime and criminal not to punish him but when journalism go beyond its code of conduct and start humilaiting the criminals is not only unprofessionalism, unethical but itself a crime and every person in the field of journalism must abstain from such illicit acts.
