Today, Waheed Jeelani, internationally renowned Kashmiri artist, cultural activist, and Chairman of The Kashmir Music Club Srinagar, met Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, at Raj Bhawan Srinagar, and presented a detailed memorandum regarding the revival of cultural activities in Jammu & Kashmir and for the smooth functioning of cultural institutions, such as Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and other such concerned departments.
The Honorable L Governor was appraised about the problems and hardships faced by the performing artists of this Union Territory due to prevailing circumstances. In response, the Honorable L Governor assured of a prompt redressal of the issues raised said Jeelani in a statement
In addition, Jeelani invited Honorable L G to inaugurate the largest music festival of J&K to be held in October 2021, Shashrang.
Jeelani also requested the L. Governor to support the much awaited music album Wattan, in which over 150 artists have performed across J&K. In response, the LG agreed to fully support and benefit the participants of the album.
Furthermore, Jeelani urged the Honorable LG to sanction COVID-19 relief fund for affected artists, and also release the pending payments for the same.
Jeelani also requested Honorable L G to have a word with the Ministry of Information and Broadcast, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture to vibrantly allocate sufficient budget in the interest of reviving cultural activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
