A seminar on drug de-addiction was held at Kokernag in South Kashmir District Anantnag, on Saturday.
The seminar, which was organised by Human Rights and Anti Corruption Forum- Hq; Delhi, was presided over by Fahar Baba, Vice-President UT, J&K, The participants including people from Civil Society, Army, Police and Paramilitary Forces was presented. The District President Anantnag, Er Shariq Mohiuddin highlighted the importance of drug de addiction and the collective role of different stock holders. The importance was laid on the fact that civil socities need to be made well aware of their role in propagating awareness among the common masses about hazards effects of narcotic drugs on youths and its subsequent effects on socialisation. All the stake holders agreed in giving their best for solving this menace.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Baba highlighted the alarming situation of drug addiction which has engulfed the entire world and particularly the UT J&K. He emphasized on stakeholders to address the issue at their level so that the menace is eradicated.
The main objective of the seminar was to spread awareness amongst the youth of the region about the harmful effects of drugs.
The people of the area appealed the police to take strict action against the drug peddlers.
