An FIR has been registered against two students of Badshah University in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district for allegedly disrespecting the national anthem.
The two students did not stand up when the national anthem was being sung at a function at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University yesterday (22 November), where Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra was the chief guest.
The incident reportedly took place during a valedictory function. Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra, Rajouri Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, and Vice Chancellor of the university were present at the occasion.
reported that the students were allegedly clicking selfies instead of standing for the anthem.
“We have taken cognisance of the incident of disrespect of the national anthem by two students of Badshah University on 22 November,” the District Magistrate said.
“Disciplinary action will follow. The law will take its own course,” he said, adding that a report has been sought from university authorities.
