8 films by Kashmiri filmmakers have been selected to be screened at 15th Mumbai International Film Festival (M.I.F.F – 2018)
The films of different genre in regional and English languages will be screened during the festival.
The films include “Kashmiri Sofiyana Music” depicting the sofiyana music in a traditional form by utilizing the professional Sofiyana singers by filmmaker Mushtaq Bala, film maker Ayash Arif’s “ The Boatman of Kashmir “based on the life of local “Hanji community. Investigative documentary “Kashmir into the murky waters”, of Tarique Bhat and Wajahat Iqbal Kashtwari. “Oh! She” directed by Bilal Jan, “The Lake Town” directed by Sana Irshad Mattoo is a 12-minute documentary on the life inside Dal lake. , The film “Her Theme of Freedom” directed by Mohiuddin Mirza who is also curating the films from Kashmir at MIFF. Film “Apour Ti Yapour” by Ajay Raina based on people living on Line of Control,“Kashmir- Cradle of Secularism” directed by Saquib-ur-Rehman will be screened at the festival which will witness participation of films from around the world.
The festival is being organized by Films Division, Government of India in collaboration with Govt. of Maharashtra and allied bodies.
The main venue will be in the premises of Films Division, Mumbai. The films will be showcased in the festival between 28th Jan to 3rd Feb.2018.
M.I.F.F. is a prestigious competitive biennial International Film Festival and has been recognized at par with the top most International Film Festivals like IDFA, Hot Docs, Berlinale, Leipzig, Oberhausen etc. Since its inception in 1990, M.I.F.F. has impressively grown in terms of participation of countries and quality of films. A number of distinguished film makers, film critics, dignitaries and journalists from India and across the globe have participated in the festivals and the response has been overwhelming.
Apart from competition sections, there are many attractive sections and events such as retrospectives, special packages, seminars, workshops, Master classes, open forum etc. in the festival.
