For the first time an extraordinary surgery was performed by surgeons at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Karnah.

While divulging the details source told that a 55 year old male was brought to hospital in Karnah area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district with abdominal trauma due to road traffic.
The surgeons posted at the hospital,Dr Bashir Ahmad and Dr Irshad Ahmad diagnosed it as a case of haemoperitoneum which was operated upon immediately on arrival. Exploratory laparotomy with repair of mesentric tear along with peritoneal lavage and mopping was done.
Anaesthesia team included Dr Yousf as anaesthetist assisted by Mohd Azam khan, Amjid Ali and Ishfaq Rashid khan, M. Sayeed and Hafeez Ahmad and supportive staff Manzoor Ahmad were part of the surgery.
Its pertinent to mention that earlier these type of patients were referred to tertiary care hospitals and “golden hour” was wasted during shifting of patients.
