Advocate Javed of PDP Elected as Vice-Chairperson
The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration on Thursday won the both seats for the election of DDC Chairperson and vice-chairperson in Anantnag District of South Kashmir.
Muhammad Yousuf Gorsi of National Conference was declared as chairperson of Anantnag district council while Advocate Javed Shaheen of PDP was elected unopposed for the post of vice chairperson respectively.
For Chairperson Election, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi of NC and Sajida Begum (Independent) had filed nominations. All 14 DDC members participated in the election where in Gorsi got 11 votes and was elected as chairperson.
Advocate Sheikh Javid Ahmad Shaheen of PDP won the Vice-Chairperson post unopposed.
The election process went on smoothly in presence of DPEO (Deputy Commissioner) Anantnag Anshul Garg (IAS), Dy. DPEO (ADC)(S) and other concerned officers. DPEO administered oath to Chairperson & Vice Chairperson on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Garg congratulated both and assured full support for achieving new heights of progress and Development in the District. He also stressed on full cooperation among District administration, the general public and the council.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson desired for full coordination among all members of the council for overall development of the District
It is pertinent to mention that the allied parties of the PAGD contested the elections collectively to defeat the BJP as they called it as the referendum of the J&K against the abrogation of Article 370.
Earlier on Wednesday, the PAGD won the both the seats of the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson in the district Ganderbal of Central Kashmir and in District Pulwama of South Kashmir.
