Dr. Hajini is a versatile poet, with a distinct mode of poetic expression and craft. Kashmir emerges as a central metaphor in his poetic oeuvre. His romantic poetry and especially his naats charged with devotional emotions are appreciated with great respect by audiences of radio and television. In the field of research, Dr. Hajini has produced a couple of high quality research papers, particularly during the days of his stay as faculty members in the Centre of Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies, University of Kashmir. As Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Hajini was instrumental in reviving the various statutory committees which had fallen in disuse for a long time.
Prof. Farooq Fayaz. a historian, folklorist, poet, critic, researcher and translator with about one dozen books to his credit.
Aziz Hajini is a good writer. He worked very hard to generate interest in the Kashmiri language among common people and students. He taught the Kashmiri language through various modes. He presented a programme on Doordarshan under the title Paenin Zeiv Paennin Kath. The programme became very popular and a large number of students participated in it. In addition to that Doordarshan telecasted fifteen episodes of Qalamkaar, a programme based on various literary and cultural personalities and conceived and directed by Aziz Hajini. The work which Hajini Sahib did during his tenure of four years as Secretary of the Academy is not hidden from anyone. It is a fact that he did not possess a magic lamp but no one can deny that the Academy received a new lease of life. The cultural programmes continued to take place at a steady pace. The Academy presented a cultural policy to the government. After many years a General Council was given shape and Tagore Hall, Srinagar was refurbished for use. A number of big conferences were organized. The honorarium of writers, artists, actors and poets was increased. Aziz Hajini is a good person and sincere friend. He cared for and nurtured friendships but had to encounter enmities as well. He is also annoyed easily because he has high expectations from friends.
