Commissioner HED inspects progress of College buildings in Doda district

Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez, today visited Government Degree College Thathri and GDC Kilotran and took stock of infrastructural requirement of the twin institutions.

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has approved infrastructure support grant of Rs 1.97 crore for GDC Thathri Doda under RUSA and Rs 13.35 crore in favour of GDC Kilotran, Doda under PMRP-II. The works in campuses of the twin colleges are being executed through R&B and JKPCC.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Director Finance, Abdul Majid Bhat; SDM Thathri , Principal GDC Thathri, Principal GDC Doda, Principal GDC Kilotran, Manager JKPCC and Executive Engineers of R&B.

The Commissioner Secretary inspected the ongoing work on prefabricated structures at Kilotran and also the site of the main College campus. He met with the people whose land fall in the alignment for establishment of the College. He issued instructions to the Revenue authorities for early resolution of the land issues so that the Construction of the College building is started urgently. He also visited the makeshift college building at Kilotran, where college has been made functional from 2008.

The proprietary land measuring 79 kanals at village Changa Bhalessa has been acquired for the Campus and possession handed over to the higher education department. It was informed that an amount of Rs 9.11 crore stand incurred upto ending March on construction of college building at Killotran.

The executive agencies were asked to gear up the men and machinery and complete the remaining 20% work.
