Advisor to governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai on Thursday ordered Jammu and Kashmir State Board of school education (BOSE) to conduct the examination of a 12th class student who couldn’t appear in the earlier test because of “illegal detention”.

Ubaid Ahmad Bhat (16) of Muloo Chitragam in south Kashmir’s Shopian district was detained by the police allegedly in place of his brother during a raid on Tuesday night.

Because of the detention, Bhat who is a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Tarkiwangam, Shopian, couldn’t appear in the test for environmental sciences paper scheduled on Wednesday.

Ganai said that the concerned authorities have been “specifically” ordered to arrange the examination of the student for Environmental Science paper which he missed due to illegal detention, reported news agency.  “I have directed the concerned to arrange the examination for the student,” Ganie was quoted as saying in the report.

Confirming it, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo told the news agency that BOSE authorities have been asked to arrange for the examination.

Ubaid was released around 11:30 PM last night, hours after the news report regarding his detention was published in online media.
