“Rajiv Gandhi had decentralized governance. The Narendra Modi and Shivraj Singh Chouhan governments have decentralized corruption. The poor has no food; the farmer does not get returns of crops or compensation; the elderly don’t get pension and the BJP has no worries about it,” Scindia said, addressing a public function organized to highlight the plight of youth and farmers here.
“Dikhalo sapna, sabka maal apna (show them dreams and pocket their money) is the notion followed by them (BJP leaders),” he said delivering a fiery speech filled with a series of couplets that received loud cheers from a large gathering at the Yuva Evum Kisan Aaokrosh Sabha – a public meeting organized to highlight the plight of youth and farmers.
The public meet is considered as the start of series of rallies dubbed as Parivartan (transformation) rallies which the Congress plans to hold in various assembly segments as part of its campaign for coming elections in November this year.
Scindia dwelt at length on various scams in Madhya Pradesh including the Vyapam scam and the sand mining issue and said, “The Prime Minister says: Na Khaunga, Na khane dunga (I will not indulge in corruption nor allow anyone to do so). I want to ask him (PM) to visit Madhya Pradesh, he will know what is happening.”
He said Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan indulges in Narmada Seva Yatra. “Actually, it is Narmada Survey Yatra — tours during the daytime and illegal sand mining during the night. The BJP has destroyed the rivers of the state by promoting illegal sand mining,” the Congress campaign chief added.
He said BJP has destroyed the state in last 14 years. The state has emerged as number one in rape incidents, showing the plight of women. The child mortality rate, maternal mortality rate and malnutrition is the lowest in the state.
