Aam Mazdoor Kissan Vikas Party (AMKVP) on Monday decided to merge its Jammu and Kashmir State Unit into National Conference for the larger interests of the people and to strengthen secular forces.
Announcing this decision in presence of National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah here this morning, Mr Vijay Kumar Pandey, President of the Aam Mazdoor Kissan Vikas Party said that he along with his associates feel the necessity of fighting polarizing forces, which are engineering divide among the people and working against the interests of the State.
Welcoming Mr Pandey and his associates into National Conference fold, Dr Farooq Abdullah said his party’s doors were open for well meaning and public spirited people, who want to work for unity, amity and inclusiveness of Jammu and Kashmir that is passing through most difficult phase. He said National Conference is determined in its resolve to serve the people and steer out the state from political instability and unprecedented crisis.
Dr Farooq Abdullah said joining of Mr Pandey and his associates will further strengthen National Conference at grass roots level. He asked the party cadre, present on the occasion, to gear up for the challenges facing to the State.
Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana also welcomed Mr Pandey and his associates, saying National Conference is a mass movement that is ingrained in the political ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Vijay Kumar Pandey has contested 2014 elections to Lok Sabha from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency and elections to Legislative Assembly in 2008 and 2014.
Those who joined along with Mr Pandey in the National Conference include Karan Kumar, Om Parkash Sharma, Dault Ram, Ranjeet Singh, Gulam Hussain, Dhari Singh, Shabir Sain, Ashok Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, Charn Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Laxmi Datt, Anand Sharma, Ramesh Kumar, Bhajen Singh, Bua Ditta, Ashok Kumar and others.
