Several feared dead as minibus plunges into deep gorge in Ramban

At least a dozen passengers are feared dead in a road mishap in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning.

An official said a minibus (registration number JK19 1593) on way to Ramban district headquarters from Banihal skidded off the road and rolled down into a 200 feet deep gorge.

He said a rescue operation was immediately launched. The official said the bus was overcrowded with passengers when the mishap took place.

A rescuer that two bodies were recovered so far while fifteen injured were shifted to district hospital Ramban for treatment.

Meanwhile, reports said that the deputy commissioner Ramban Showkat Aijaz has called for air lifting the critically injured to GMC&H Jammu. Further details are awaited.
