New Delhi: A Round table conference was held at India International Centre New Delhi organised by Centre for Peace and Progress founded by O P Shah , on the topic “JK- Road Ahead”. Round table discussion was attended by various diplomats, Member of Parliaments, politicians, journalists, Activists and Research Scholars.
The participants who spoke on this occasion include Ex CM JK Farooq Abdullah, Prof Bhim Singh, Member of Parliament Majeed Memon, Muzaffar Hussian Shah, Ab. Shafi Pandit (IAS) , A M Watali , Adv G.N Shaheen , Ashok bhan, Arti Tikoo etc.
While addressing the august gathering Syed Mujtaba , a renowned Human Rights Defender said that the Kashmiris are sandwiched between the unstable Political relations of the two nations and dialogue with clarity, courage and consistency as a hallmark must be initiated to address the long ongoing humanitarian Kashmir issue . For the greater peace of the South Asian region, political issues should not be allowed to derail the SAARC summits nor it should be held hostage to the bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.
He further said that for the Peace and cooperation, India and Pakistan must start people to people dialogue , cultural and transnational diplomacy, economic corridors, bilateral dialogues , backchannel lines of communication.
While declaring Kashmir as the “Bloodshed capital of Globe” Mujtaba said, ‘peace in Jammu Kashmir is not possible unless gap in theory and practice is bridged.’
While targeting the mainstream parties of Jammu Kashmir , He said that lot of Accords like Indira -sheikh Accord, Rajiv -Farooq Accord etc is on papers But unfortunately the reality on ground is different .
While concluding his address Mujtaba hussian said that the Kashmir issue can be resolved but there is a need of farsightedness and statesmanship.
