An 18-year-old girl on Tuesday morning tried to commit suicide in Batpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after she failed to clear class 12 exams, results of which were declared yesterday.
An official said that a class 12th girl (name withheld) tried to commit suicide, after jumping into river Jhelum near Batpora area.
“However, she was rescued after timely action by some locals and was shifted to SDH Sopore for treatment. She is stable now, ” he said.
BMO Sopore, Dr. Sami said that the girl in fine and out of danger.
A police official of Tarzoo said that they are veryfing the details as to why she took the extreme step.
