To support the one day mega nationwide protest call of National Health Mission Employees, the NHM Employees of Doda District under the banner of All J&K NHM Employees Association District Unit Doda on Thursday observed complete pen down strike across District.
Speaking on the occasion, District President NHM Union Doda Faizan A Tramboo said that the aim of holding one day strike is to support the call given by All India NHM Karamchari Sang besides to inform the Honble Governor about the genuine grievances of NHM Employees which has not been conceded sofar forcing us to go for protests and strikes.
The main demands which were highlighted during the strike include immediate formulation of regularization policy, implementation of equal pay for equal work and implementation of 7th pay commission benefit to NHM Employees on the analogy of SSA Teachers.
Tramboo informed that we are around 12000 employees working under NHM in J&K and most of our employees have already crossed the age of upper limit, adding that NHM Employees should be brought on permanent roll and those who have completed five years tenure should be given salary at par with permanent employees, as the NHM Employees are doing the similar work as done by the others but we are still facing discrimination.
Tramboo further said that NHM Employees are not interested in hitting roads or taking such steps like strikes or protests but the official apathy is forcing us to resort to such mean.
While criticizing the previous and well as present regime for their callous and non serious approach, the NHM Employees of the District demanded formulation of a comprehensive policy to regularize the services of NHM Employees.
The NHM Association also informed the media that we have been approaching the Govt and the authorities concerned from the last 05 years but unfortunately our Govt doesnot pay any heed towarss our genuine demands.
The strike call of NHM Union Doda was also supported by Chenab Valley Doctors Association (CVDA) and their members including President CVDA Dr Hamid Parray and Spokesperson Dr Tahir Muneeb Zargar also joined the protest at Block Ghat. They have made an appeal to Governor J&K to address the genuine demands of NHM Employees by formulating a regularization policy for them.
The NHM Association has urged the Honble Governor to look into the issues of NHM Employees on priority basis so that a policy should be framed in their favour, besides they also threatened that if the govt does not take any concrete steps in resolving the demands of NHM Employees, then the time is not far when the health department machinery will get collapse.
In Doda District, the one day strike was observed at District Hospital Doda, Block Ghat, Block Bhaderwah, Block Assar, Block Gandoh and Block Thathri by all NHM Employees.
Pertinent to mention here that National Health Mission Employees throughout India are observing one day strike in support of their long pending and genuine demands on 25.10.2018 . (PTK)
