Authorities on Friday placed Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest to prevent him from leading any rallies on the second death anniversary of slain militant commander Burhan Wani.
A police party arrived at the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz early in the morning and put him under house confinement, said a spokesman.
