Hakeem Yaseen shocked over tragic Banihal road accident

Srinagar, Oct 06 2018

Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Yaseen has expressed profound grief over the killing of ten passengers and injuries to 16 others in a tragic road accident at Kelar Morh on Jammu-Srinagar national highway this morning.
The ill-fated mini bus was on its way from Banihal to Ramban when met with accident.

Hakeem Yaseen has castigated government especially traffic, transport and police departments for their failure and in efficiency to curb fatal road accidents on Srinagar-Jammu and Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highways causing loss of precious human lives almost on daily basis.

He said it was most unfortunate that the concerned departments seem totally unconcerned over the increasing number of fatal road accidents on these highways as no action has been taken against culprits so far. He has demanded re-verification of driving licenses issued to Sumo and mini-bus drivers working in these hilly areas.

He said there are large scale complaints that some ir- responsible drivers are habitual of taking alcoholic drinks while driving vehicles on National Highways adding that no driver has been punished so far for this offence. He has urged the government to launch a vigorous drive against fast driving, against drinking while driving and overloading in all kinds of passenger vehicles so that occurrences of road accidents could be checked effectively.

Hakeem Yaseen has demanded stern action against all concerned officers of the police, traffic and transport departments who have allowed such a kind of overloading in the mini bus which met with the tragic road accident today.

“They are the people who should also be given exemplary punishment for dereliction of duty,” Hakeem Yaseen urged while conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He said had this ill fated mini bus checked by the concerned field staff, the causality could have been lesser.

Hakeem Yaseen has prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and demanded adequate ex-gratia relief to the bereaved families.
