Advisor Ganai inaugurates 65th Cooperative week

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 14: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today inaugurated 65th Cooperative Week themed “Inclusive Growth and Good Governance through Cooperatives for Rural Prosperity” here at Cooperative Complex, Bantalab.

Among others, Secretary Cooperatives Department Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Registrar Cooperatives, M. M. Rehman, Additional Registrar, Jammu Tanvir Iqbal, Joint Registrars, Deputy Registrars and other senior functionaries of the Department also attended the function.

Chairmen and Chief Executives of various progressive Cooperative institutions were also present. The celebration began with customary flag hoisting by the Advisor.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor emphasised on exploring the means for strengthening the Cooperative sector in the State as the sector has ample opportunities of employment generation. He stressed upon the need to revive Cooperatives with the change of times and directed to prepare a roadmap under long and short-term plans for the revival of Cooperatives.

The Advisor also assured for extending genuine support to the Housing sector under Cooperatives who could establish planned colonies in the State.

He hoped that the Cooperative Department will utilise the Week to spread awareness amongst the people and reinforce efforts to build a healthy network of Cooperative Societies, catering to the requirement of the general public. He said that department is rejuvenating itself with the concerted efforts of the administration and the officers who are now motivated to take the Cooperatives to new heights.

He further said that hard work, honesty and sincerity should be the hallmark for everyone to make the Business Units of the Cooperative vibrant entities.

Addressing the gathering, Secretary Cooperatives emphasized the need for revival of Cooperative sector in a phased manner and expressed satisfaction over the working of the Cooperative sector.

Registrar Cooperatives highlighted various new initiatives under the Cooperative sector which are aimed at growth and development of Cooperatives.

The members of various Cooperative Societies lauded the role of Cooperative Sector in the economy and also projected various issues and problems faced by Cooperatives in different areas.

The Advisor also paid rich tributes to veterans of Cooperative society for their exceptional contribution which gave the fillip to the cooperative movement in the state.

Pertinently the week-long celebrations are being held in various Cooperative Institutions across the state.
